“Protecting Those Who Protect our Future”
The mission of the Los Angeles School Police Association is to vigilantly protect, promote, and improve the working conditions, legal rights, compensation and benefits of Los Angeles School Police Officers and School Safety Officers.
The Los Angeles School Police Association was founded in 1981, and it has a proud and distinguished history representing over 500 dedicated and professional sworn and non-sworn members of the Los Angeles School Police Department. The Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) is the largest independent school police department in the United States, with approximately 400 sworn police officers, and over 125 non-sworn school safety officers (SSO), and 34 civilian support staff dedicated to serving the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). It is the fourth largest police department in Los Angeles County, and the 14th largest in California.
The Los Angeles School Police Association Board of Directors was created to manage the operations of the association. The association, a California non-profit corporation, has an elected board of directors who are responsible to ensure the protection and preservation of peace officer rights, and to negotiate salary, benefits, and working conditions.
LASPA promotes and attains legislation which affects our members welfare. LASPA also addresses Department morale issues.
LASPA supports the Los Angeles Unified School District community through scholarships, donations and community events.
